Why is Health Important?
The health policy area explores data on rates of insurance and immunization as well as the prevalence of conditions like obesity, asthma, and low birth weight. Public health can be affected by access to safe housing, food insecurity, education and income levels, and the environment. Healthcare policy is often heavily impacted by choices at the federal level about insurance and pharmaceutical regulation, but state and local governments as well as private health providers also play an important role in giving people access to healthcare.
