Why is this Variable Important to Measure?
Part II Crimes
The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program of the FBI divides criminal offenses into two groups: Part I and Part II Crimes. Part II crimes are considered less serious offenses on which less-detailed arrest data is collected. Part II crimes include approximately 21 categories of offenses ranging from simple assault to forgery and fraud to drug possession.
Because Part II Crimes encompass a wide array of offenses, their effects on neighborhood and individual well-being vary significantly.
